Feed Hamsters

Hamster Diet

Hamsters, like a great many if not most other small rodents, are often thought to be strict herbivores. This is not hte case at all. Although hamsters do feed predominantly on seed, fruits, and greens, they also opportunistically eat burrowing insects. There has to be some compensation for digging in the dirt, and if that comepnsation is a bit of a snack, I say, go for it-if you’re a hamster, that is. Hamsters may also sample carrion if they come across it.

Despite this somewhat broader than recognized natural diet, pet hamsters of all types are among the easiest small animals to feed, There are a great many commercial diets avaible, or you can make your own if you wish to do so. Actually, the easiest thing to do is to buy the best-prepared hamster food you can find and augment it with bits and pieces of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, and even an occasional mealworm or cricket or two.
